Congress, Confusion, and COVID Commandments

Congratulations to Speaker Pelosi on her election to a fourth term. May she use her authority to serve the nation to the best of her abilities.

For the vote in the House of Representatives chamber, a last minute alteration was made. The Wall Street Journal reporting:

Pelosi Wins Fourth Term as House Speaker - WSJ

Some lawmakers voted behind plexiglass because they had recently been exposed to the coronavirus, though they had tested negative for Covid-19.

We’re nearly a year into this pandemic and still the public (and journalists?) are still completely ignorant of the meaning of COVID-19 test results.

COVID Test Results Translator

Positive: You have COVID-19.
Negative: You might have COVID-19.

There is no test that will definitively state that you do not have COVID-19.

Also, I thought it might be useful to provide all plebeians one place to review the COVID Commandments, because even just one death is too many!

COVID Commandments

1) Thou shall always wear a mask (unless you’re getting your hair cut).
2) Thou shall not eat indoors at a restaurant (unless it’s your friend’s birthday).
3) Thou shall self-isolate for 10-14 days if exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 (unless your boss needs to to come to work and vote for them).

Happy New Year, everyone!
